Hungary’s Ambassador to Canberra Attila Gruber and Australian Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Peter Dutton signed a Hungarian-Australian Work and Holiday visa arrangement at a ceremony in Australia’s Parliament on 24 February 2016. The document is the result of several years of preparation.

According to the agreement, 200 young people aged 18 and 30 from Hungary and a similar number from Australia will have the chance to work and study in each other’s countries for a period of one year.

The agreement will come into force on a mutually agreed date within a few weeks after the ratification processes of both countries are complete. Details of how to apply for an Australian visa once the arrangement has come into force are available on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection website (http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/462-) and on the website of Australian Embassy in Berlin (http://germany.embassy.gov.au/).
